Location: New Hampshire | What's a good price for once fired brass? I have an excessive collection of .223, .45ACP and .40S&W brass. It is all American brand (no PMC, etc), all Speer, Winchester, Federal, etc. I'm planning on sorting it by brand too. I believe it is all once fired. I will inspect each piece for obvious cracks and flaws. I have NO desire to sell something I wouldn't want to buy or screw anybody. Shipping will be priced separate and I'll most likely use USPS Flat Rate boxes. Problem is; I just don't know what it's worth. Can somebody help? Thanks, Spike12 MERRY CHRISTMAS! |

Location: Missouri | I just paid $50 per 1000 at a gun show for 45acp but he only had 2 bags and I only got one them. I would buy a couple thousand at that price. The 40 cal was bringing $35 per 1000 , not sure on the 223 never priced it . Good Luck |

Location: Ohio | How can they tell that a shell has only been used once after sweeping it up off the floor? I have never looked but I would think unless there are some sort of tool marks or deliberate markings added distinguishing a once fired factory new shell from a reloaded shell AFTER they have both been fired and swept into a pile would be somewhat difficult or perhaps impossible. Or maybe the primers used by the OEMs are different than the primers used by reloaders? |

Location: Mobile, AL | Here's a link to a fired brass dealer. Once Fired Brass | | Top Brass Reloading Supplies Their prices are high in my opinion. I can buy unsorted, fired brass from the local pistol range for $2.00/lb which less than half of what most sellers want. |

I like to run them all through the resizer and expander then prime them, I have a tub I toss them in that holds around 3000 to 4000. I have a tub for each 9mm, .38sp , 40 cal, and 45ACP. I use a single stage (old) Texan press I got when I was 15 or 16 years old. What ever cal I want to load I pull out that tub and I know it's all good and just needs powder and bullets. It works for me. i |

Retired Moderator & Gunsmith Location: CB, IA | Hey guys ... let's not turn this into a 'for sale' ad. We have a classified ad section just for this. mcwsky09, If you inspect fired cases before they are cleaned, it's usually easy to see if they have been reloaded before. Some of the telltale signs are: the inside of the case gets smoked up with powder residue ... very little on a once fired case ... a lot more on a reloaded case. You normally see one extractor marks on a once fired pistol case ... two or more on reloaded cases. The headstamp and the color of the brass are also a clue. My reloads are very shiny so it's easy to tell. Granted ... nothing is 100% so sometimes you get spoofed. If a person does a good job of cleaning cases (inside and out) it would be very difficult to determine if they were once fires ... especially revolver cases. |

Location: New Hampshire | Well, let's see if I can sum up this stuff and close this one out... My LGS where I sometimes work gets a customer who comes in with a gun and bunch of 'stuff' they want to sell. The story is usually from a loved one who's passed and they just want to get rid of all their shooting gear. Since I reload, etc., the owner gives it all to me since he just wants the space back and isn't in that business anyway. If I can use it fine, if not I try to find a good home for it. This time there was quite a bit of .45ACP which I already have and 100's of .223 which I don't use (I only reload marked 5.56 for my AR). While it was sorted by caliber it was pretty old and has no marks on it like it had ever been resized. Some of the .45 cases are old military Winchester cases and the primers still have their sealer. All of the case head are in VG condition and don't have any serious dings or gouges. Since it seems the .45 is going for around .05/ea I'll just keep it. The .223 at maybe .09 might be worth it. I'll clean it, inspect it, bag it but I'm not going to decap it. I'm just trying to find a good home for it vs. the metal recycle depot. Thanks for the replies! Merry Christmas! |

Location: New Hampshire | I just finished cleanign and sorting the .45ACP brass. Turned out to be over 1K of Winchester, Speer and Federal. I haven't started into the .223 stuff yet. Let me get into it, clean it up and I'll get back to you. That work for you? |

Location: SouthWest US | Free range pick-up works for me. If I can't find cases at the range, I generally can't find 'once' fired cases either, so I buy a 'life time' supply from Starline. |
